If he is willing to pay £8.50, he could get a train for less. IIRC,
Gatwick to Victoria on a normal Southern express train is £8.

The Terravision saved my bacon one day recently when I arrived to find
Stanstead Exp gone belly up and the Rail Replacement simply bursting at
seams......Nobody seemed to notice the Terravision`s so I asked and was
rewarded with a comfortable and acceptably rapid journey into
Victoria.....Just an option that`s all.
