Carnets v. Oyster
Hi,
Now that the oyster pre-pay is the same price as a carnet for zone one single journeys, is there any advantage in continuing to use carnets? Michael |

Like the other poster mentioned, if you don't want to pay the £3 deposit for the Oyster, then yes, otherwise no. I always found Carnets a bit of a pain to carry around; Oyster also gives cheaper fares out of Zone 1 and on buses (replacing the Saver if you used them too). If you make Tube journeys frequently without needing a season ticket then personally I feel that the deposit is irrelevant, as it is outweighed by the benefit of not having to queue up to buy paper tickets each time (or not having to remember to carry a bunch of Carnets around), and by the ability to use on bus or Tube. Once/if price capping comes in, IMHO Oyster will be generally far superior to all paper tickets, even given the £3 deposit. For the moment, I find it pretty useful anyway. -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |
