Thabks to Chiltern - but how about extra carriages?

The Met is due to Wembley. Chiltern I'm not sure about. Hope it's not because they don't want the hassle of taking all the Met passengers as well as their own. Anyone know? When I went past Neasden South Junction today I saw that the straight route to Harrow was signposted for an engineering possession. Having seen the state of the track in the area it is not unreasonable to assume that there are track renewal works taking place between Harrow South and Neasden South Junctions. RPM would know where to get more info. |

It's not just next weekend... It's going to be like this until March on both Met and Chiltern. groan PLEASE tell me you're kidding... This is all Wembley Bloody Park? The Met is due to Wembley. Chiltern I'm not sure about. Hope it's not because they don't want the hassle of taking all the Met passengers as well as their own. Anyone know? At first I thought it might be due to Marylebone being "Closed" because of engineering works, with Wycombe line trains going to Paddington. However, Checking the engineering works info on Chiltern's website, it suggests that Wycombe line trains will be fine, so I guess it is something going on at Wembley Park that is going to block chiltern as well as the Met. (unless something else is taking place between Harrow on the Hill and Neasden Junction on those Sundays. |

So why do they insist on running 2 car units on weekday evenings, while there's plenty of *other* 2 car units sat dark and quiet on the platforms at Marylebone and in sidings just outside? That is, indeed, becoming an increasing problem. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, in particular, it is not unusual to find the post-theatregoing trains with standing room only. Reminds me of a saturday early in december. I'd been out to dinner with some friends, and got the last Aylesbury (via Amersham) train. As I recall it was either a 2 or 3 car unit, and was wedged, with passengers having to stand in the aisles, as well as filling the vestibules. If I hadn't managed to get a seat, I probably wouldn't have bothered and got the 10 past midnight via High Wycombe instead. Unless units HAVE to be back at Aylesbury beforehand, it doesn't seem beyond the realms of common sense to make sure the last trains are the longest length for the route. |

The Met is going on until at least MAY

Info on Chiltern's website says there will be a replacement bus from Amersham to Beaconsfield, so that passengers can pick up a London train from there. Although I suspect Aylesbury passengers would be better off just getting a direct train (via High Wycombe) instead. It's not just next weekend... It's going to be like this until March on both Met and Chiltern. |
