There's plenty of this at Tube stations now. I picked up two leaflets,
one about capping itself and another about Oyster in general. One point of interest was that in reference to fares between stations in zones 2-6, "some journeys have been defined as requiring travel via Zone 1 and will be charged and capped accordingly, irrespective of the actual route taken". I wonder what journeys those are? Presumably ones where you have a choice of Zone 1 or non-Zone 1 routes, but the Zone 1 route makes a lot more sense time-wise than the other, e.g. Hammersmith to Finchley Road. -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |

And by calling the helpline means they'll hopefully acknowledge the overcharge (assuming you've touched in & out for all journeys) and presumably arrange to send you the refund by cheque or whatever. This refers to the situation where there may be an unresolved journey somewhere in the day's tally. This does not count towards the cap value and thus you can end up with paying too much. While a ticket office can resolve the journey they cannot reset the cap. Therefore the customer services centre have to be approached because they can access the previous day's trip tally and calculate what the cap should be. They also have the authority to amend your running value total and make the necessary changes. As you might imagine there are good reasons for not providing that sort of facility at every ticket office. -- Paul C Admits to working for London Underground! |

will be charged and capped accordingly, irrespective of the actual route taken". I wonder what journeys those are? Highbury & Islington to Shadwell DLR is probably one. I've been charged Zone 2 only fares for that in the past, I assume due to the NLL - DLR possibility. |
