Wood Green High Road speed limit
Although there are 20 mph discs painted on the road surface, there don't seem to be any signs on posts marking the start or end of the restricted area. Presumably there isn't actually a traffic order for the 20mpgh limit, and it's basically a hoax.... so what's going on here, and why? -- John Rowland - Spamtrapped Transport Plans for the London Area, updated 2001 http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acro...69/tpftla.html A man's vehicle is a symbol of his manhood. That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line - It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes |

There' a similar situation on the A30 outside hook, a 70mph Dual Carriageway with slow signs before a vunerable junction, without a nseparate speed limit sign they have no legal force. tim |

These are pretty common - the "slow" sign on the road isn't so much a sneaky way of reducing the speed limit, it's simply a warning of a hazard; much the same as chevron boards on bends. The fact that it sounds like an instruction probably helps to make the hard-of-thinking actually take notice. :) K |
