Ah, you've changed the point you were making. How unlike you.

You should try learning to read better. Going through glass is a life
threatening situation whether the glass shetters into little bits or
not.
Far better to hit something solid which doesn't break.

If it's of the type used in some car applications, bus shelters and
the like that breaks down into small, pea-sized, non-sharp bits, that
statement may not be valid.

It is also likely that said glass in rail vehicles is strengthened to
the point where one can hit it very hard without it breaking.
Remember my post about the difficulty in breaking domestic double
glazed windows?

Not necessarily. And the glass may not break, anyhow.

There is also the issue of the personal security benefits brought on
by having a good line of sight through the train. This may well
outweigh the tiny risk of the glass breaking in the very rare event of
a crash.
