Discrimination against central London residents
Got a reply to an email to the Mayor about the zone 1 travelcard.
Our Ref: TfL 48128 Dear Mr Boothroyd Thank you for your e-mail to the Mayor's Office concerning next year's withdrawal of the zone one Travelcard. I have been asked to reply on their behalf, please accept my apologies for the delay in doing so. It was decided to phase out the zone one Travelcard because only three per cent of all Travelcards sold are for this particular zone since the majority of people travel into zone one from another zone, or make other trips beyond zone one. However, many passengers travelling within the central zone may benefit by switching to Oyster Pre Pay fares, which will be reduced by £1.50 per tube journey. Around half of those currently buying the Travelcard will avoid any increase by doing this. Only those making more than 14 tube trips a week will need the zone 1/2 Travelcard. Nevertheless I appreciate the issues you raise about the rising costs of London life and regret that I am unable to provide a more positive response. Yours sincerely Jasmine Howard Central Customer Services -- http://www.election.demon.co.uk "We can also agree that Saddam Hussein most certainly has chemical and biolog- ical weapons and is working towards a nuclear capability.
