![]() I see ticket office opening hours are being dramatically scaled back at suburban stations. For example, the booking office at Upminster Bridge has closed entirely, whilst Upney will close late morning Mon-Fri and not open on Sunday. Outside of ticket office opening hours, are these stations unstaffed, or do staff lurk behind the shuttered ticket windows? Chris |

This now makes it impossible to buy an OPODTC with Y-P. Regards, Mr. A. H. Harris |

Plus there's no longer a guarantee that my destination station will have an open ticket office, and it's not particularly progressive to have me alight mid-journey at a "known good" station to exchange my ticket. Plus there's no longer a guarantee that my destination station will have an open ticket office, and it's not particularly progressive to have me alight mid-journey at a "known good" station to exchange my ticket. What about a Permit to Travel? If you carry that and exchange it at the first opportunity it should be okay. I know it's a total pain, but can you buy your discounted ticket in advance from that ticket office? From recollection train companies hate to issue discounted weekday OPODTCs in advance because the restricted use times get abused. |

I would be looking at buying it from my local Tube ticket office, as I have successfully done for the past three years or so. :-) Thanks, RAH |

It's a shame the "turn up and go" element of cheap public transport in London is lost, just as it has been on the railways. Best wishes, Mr. Harris |
