How much running Etc You need to define "route" and "in London" more precisely, but there is a route (continuous journey in passenger service in the same train without reversing) that is wholly within Greater London and takes (or did so when I last researched it two years ago) 20 hrs 8 min. How much running Etc How do you define 'London'? Do you mean 'Which route takes the longest to complete?' or 'Which route is the longest distance?' Two losers for you: 288 Queensbury - Edgware - Broadfields Estate - Edgware - Queensbury. 305 Edgware - The Hale - Burnt Oak - Kingsbury. -- Helen D. Vecht: Edgware. |

Yes, good point - probably one of the longest day routes (Shepherd's Bush to Uxbridge for the uninitiated). The 113 seems pretty long too - Oxford Circus all the way to Edgware. The N207 is also a potential candidate amongst the night routes - Holborn to Uxbridge, it must be one of the longest (and very frequent: every 10 minutes at the weekends). -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |

By an odd coincidence, today's N207 Holborn - Uxbridge was previously
numbered N89 until some years ago (although it was then, I believe, Trafalgar Square - Uxbridge as all night buses then centred on Trafalgar Square). |

At the moment there are weekend engineering works somewhere around Redbridge which close part of the loop in one direction at a time, so trains have been running to Woodford via Newbury Park (and presumably therefore back to London via Snaresbrook, because they can't go the other way around the loop). When the work switches to the inner rail, I imagine trains will travel to Hainault via Woodford and thence straight back to London via Newbury Park. -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |

I think there's a 3 or 4 TPH service doing that route. When the newsgroup was set up, it seemed important to include more than just the administrative London, or more than just the "020" phone area, and even more than "inside the M25". But you do have to stop somewhere. -- Roland Perry |
