Some who will have read my previous posts on this subject will know
that I have expressed pessimism on a subject close to my heart - the much-fabled proposed station at Imperial Wharf! Well, allow me to take back everything that I said on the subject! Unbeknown to me, the station has now opened and is in receipt of one train per day! According to the Southbound Silverlink platform timetable displayed at West Brompton Station, the M-F 19.22 from Watford Junction stops at Imperial Wharf at 20.22! This is the ONLY train that stops at this station! Marc. |

What's happened to this station; has it been dropped from the plans? When is Shepherds Bush, or whatever it's going to be called, due to open? What about the H+C line station? Does any trace remain of the Shepherds Bush station on the old Addison Road - Hammersmith Grove Road - Richmond route? When was the GWR Victoria - Uxbridge service withdrawn, and which Uxbridge station did it serve? Why did it take so long to get a proper passenger service restored on the line after the war? There seemed to be plenty of demand forit when it was done. Some years ago a very short length of new platform edge slabs was laid at Chelsea and Fulham station; does anybody know why this was done? I can't see any reason why staff would need to alight from a train there. On the East side of the line, just South od North Pole Junction, there are two low metal (cast iron?) boxes, less than a metre high, which are quite ornate. They look old, are they part of the original electrification scheme? |

The bridge parapet on the West side of Shepherd's Bush Road is still there but I think the station site was obliterated by garages years ago. It's reasonably clear in the aerial photo on Windows Live Local (http://local.live.com/). -- Colin Rosenstiel |

Practically everything along this railway curve has been built over; the only physical evidence of its existence now are the alignments of the adjacent roads and the bridge humps in the roads crossing it (Shepherd's Bush Road, Rockley Road and Richmond Way). The sort of buildings sitting on the alignment also provide a clue, as they are large blocks somewhat out of character with adjacent buildings. -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |

Is it my imagination, or do I recall still seeing bits of this line (apart from he structure that sits alongside the District Line, West of Hammersmith Station, of course, which is still there) remaining into the early 1970s?
