Um It says: "furnessvale" wrote that John Rowland wrote: In Grafton Rd NW5 there is a short stretch which is northbound-only for a few hours in the morning and southbound-only for a few hours in the evening. There is a pair of cameras to ensure the law is upheld. How much does a pair of cameras like this cost to install, and how much to maintain? followed by himself writing: Probably less than the cost of one fatal head on accident by idiots who would take a chance in the absence of cameras. George which *is* what he wrote. (sorry for the crap grammar) I agree it's confusing, but that's how it works. tim |

Conor ) gurgled happily, sounding much like they
were saying : It's funny but where I work the company car drivers, that we all knew had been driving like pratts for years (as the insurance claims showed), are the same people that seem to be picking up the points from the cameras. Perhaps it's also because they're the people who do the most miles...? Flawed logic. Oh, I dunno... Driver A does 5,000 miles per year, and gets one speeding ticket every three years. Driver B does 50,000 miles per year, and gets one speeding ticket per year. Who gets nicked with greater frequency? |

In that case, we'll ignore all references to the high mileage you do, because it's not that simple. |

You have to consider the kind of driving they do, I suppose. Someone doing all their mileage on urban roads is going to pass a lot more cameras than someone doing the same mileage on motorways. Same for accident statistics, in fact I wonder how the per mile accident rate for trucks looks if you correct for the proportion of miles driven on inherently very low risk roads. -- Steve Walker |

Someone doing 50k on the same routes will know where the cameras are. They could also be a better driver and be more observant. Too many variables. -- Conor Religion, ****ing people over for millennia. |

Who gets nicked with greater frequency? Units of frequency (Hz) are 1/seconds, so driver B, with about (errm) 0.3e-7 ticket/s, as opposed to 0.1e-7 ticket/s for driver A. #Paul |

writes That and crap 1970's brakes makes you leave a lot more room. You do realise that having admitted to driving an old car, Doug will now be looking up (making up) figures to show that you car is dirtier than a new one therefore you are polluting more. -- Clive. |
