Ticket advice needed - Southeastern trains
Tomorrow (Friday) I've got to travel into Waterloo East from Headcorn with Southeastern. I've got a Z1-4 travelcard on my Oyster so I wanted to know if I can just buy a paper ticket for the bit of the journey from Headcorn to the Z4 boundary and then let my Oyster pick up the rest of the journey from that point and, if so, does anyone know which station I need to buy my ticket to?

And you can only buy tickets *from* BZn, not *to* BZn... (when I visit my family in Guildford and stay overnight, I can buy a BZ2 - Guildford single on the way out, if I can be bothered to face the queues at Waterloo ticket office, but need to buy a Guildford - Clapham Junction ticket on the way back. Which works even on the fast trains that avoid CJ). -- John Band john at johnband dot org www.johnband.org |

Thanks a lot for the answers - I just had time to check the board before leaving this morning and it certainly worked because the woman in the ticket office didn't bat an eyelid at being asked for a ticket to Elmstead Woods even though the trains from Headcorn don't go there. There's really nothing strange about someone asking for a ticket to a station that isn't served by direct trains... |
To add to this slightly, can anyone tell me which station I'd need to get my extension ticket to/from for a journey between Euston and Milton Keynes using my 1-4 oyster season ticket?

Which takes me back to my original (not quite clear) question - which station would I need a ticket for in order to get me into Z4 if coming down from Milton Keynes? |

And that has certainly been the way it has worked on SE Trains - coming in to London from Headcorn I got a return to/from Elmstead Woods, going out of London I got a return to Headcorn from/to BZn4... Which takes me back to my original (not quite clear) question - which station would I need a ticket for in order to get me into Z4 if coming down from Milton Keynes? If coming *from* Milton Keynes, you would need a ticket to the first station in Z4. If going *to* Milton Keynes, you would need a ticket from 'boundary Z4'. -- Bob |

Yes, I know. And that is precisely what I tried to clarify in the post you have just responded to without actually answering my question. So, can someone please tell me the first station inside Z4 or perhaps I should just go back to my corner now... |

I assume the season ticket rule doesn't worry about different types of electrification. |

As others have already said, it's Kenton. -- -- Bob |
