The London Underground website picture has changed to a more tricky one. Any
ideas what station it is or too hard to tell?

Going over the suggestions via Flickr:

Cannon St, Tower Hill and St James's Park have the wrong lighting:http://flickr.com/photos/marcgoertz/...N00/128647037/

Temple has pillars in the way:http://flickr.com/photos/farrantnz/232935779/

Aldgate East has the right lighting, but a tiled ceiling:http://flickr.com/photos/cinnamonmuse/447160461/

Stepney Green is the best match:http://flickr.com/photos/nuakin/82477206/

In this case, I guess it would have been taken from the spot on the
opposite side that this photo is pointing towards.

It wold also mean that I was right with the first guess, but there has
to be a first time for everything.

I wouldn't - the Outer Rail platform is on the other side, is curved,
and has bits of support and Roman brickwork all over the place.

The flickr photo of Aldgate East is actually
http://flickr.com/photos/nuakin/82477206/ and I think it's painted concrete
rather than tiles. Anyway the flickr photo looks very similar to the
brightened LU photo

Stepney Green is the best match:

The Stepney Green photo is actually
http://flickr.com/photos/cinnamonmuse/447160461/ and shows brick surfaces
between the girders and a dot matrix display, neither of which match the LU
photo.

My vote is for Aldgate East.

You may be right, but it would have been taken from the opposite
side. The more I look at the two, the more I see that it matches
Stepney Green.

The girders and bricks can be seen clearly in the LU picture if you
put the brightness up.

Well, joining in with a "first guess", I would go for Temple or
just possibly Tower Hill.......

Mornington Crescent! (I win!!)

Stepney Green eastbound, definitely.
