I've just come off the 22.33 ex-Paddington Connect (27/7/2007).
At Paddington there was a gang of Somali youths casing the train. They kept getting on and off because they hadn't got tickets and they weren't sure if they'd get caught. nyway they then got on at the rear and passed through to the front - casting glances at the passengers. When the ticket inspectors went through I told them about the gang. He said that they were regulars, never paid for tickets, and carried knives. He said that there was nothing he could about them. He seemed scared of them. He said that a few days ago one of them sat next to a guy and showed him a knife demanding money. Apparently the police aren't too interested in doing anything - although the CCTV must have footage of them. This gang is the same one lurking around Hayes & Harlington Station bothering passengers. They've also been seen dealing in drugs in the foyer. SB. |

The police probably have their work cut out for them making threatening home visits to mothers who scold their children in the street. Its nice to know they have their priorities correct. Politically correct that is. B2003 |

Weird. I have never ever seen a policeman do that.
This isn't one of these stories that the Daily Mail likes to air from time to time is it? B. |

Here's a case where the police took action. http://www.wimbledonguardian.co.uk/n....var.1560848.0 police_target_antisocial_behaviour_at_stations.php British Transport Police have targeted a group of nuisance youths for their antisocial behaviour at Surrey railway stations. Six juveniles have so far been arrested after police reviewed CCTV at stations in Hinchley Wood and Claygate and executed warrants to arrest the suspects at their homes. .... police spent six months using covert and overt policing tactics to collate information on youths who gathered at the stations, with six persistent offenders, aged 15 to 16, being identified. Four came from Kingston and two from Chessington and the court imposed various orders on the youths, including six to 12 month supervision orders for public order offences and fines. Two of the youths were given antisocial behaviour contracts. == Note the "six months". -- Mike |
