This is a very off-topic public service announcement for any Google
Groups users, in particular those who post using GG but also those wishing to delve into the usenet archives. The UK 'version' of GG accessed via the URL http:// groups.google.co.uk is currently playing up - I think it's a Javascript problem, which basically completely hobbles many functions such as tree view (expanding and collapsing posts isn't possible) and accessing the "More options" display for individual posts (which is broken in both tree view or the inadequate 'Standard view'). However the solution is simple - use the 'main' version of GG accessed via this URL http://groups.google.com which apart from the different URL is functionally exactly the same, except it works! Of course by the time you read this the problem will have been rectified, but it was driving me mad until I worked out the work- around so I though I'd let any fellow sufferers know. And yes, before anyone says it, I know I'm a village idiot simpleton for using Google Groups rather than a proper newsreader but quite frankly the first thing to come to mind when I hear the word "newsreader" is one of those cerebral folk who read those newspapers with words in them rather than pictures of birds with their tits out, so given that I'm confused already I'll stick with what I know coz it works (sometimes). |

Oh you'd be wrong, I'm no man of letters, I'm a complete cretin, I can barely string a sentence together let alone decipher the baroque prose of a loquacious broadsheet gazette. |

I think you're doing yourself a disservice. I know I've commented on your it's/its problem in the past, and you had a you're/your problem the other day, but apart from your personal pronoun disfunctionality I find your messages to be well-constructed and eminently readable. |

Yes, the continuing apostrophe problem. Perhaps I'll just rip out the relevant key - though that would prove a bit of a dilemma when it comes to sending emails, given that is also the location of the @ symbol on a PC keyboard. Perhaps I should get a Mac, then I could happily rip out the apostrophe key as the @ resides elsewhere - could that be the most peculiar reason for switching over to Apple's computer I wonder... |

AND I ASSURE ALL OF YOU that I shall take full advantage of that feature and I shall use it to the UTMOST!! |

It's the problem of apostrophe's appearing where they shouldnt - or should that read apostrophes appearing where they shouldn't- in particular when the word "its" keeps being displayed as"it's". I believe it's not a Firefox problem as such, more of a "user initiated event" (or some similarly clinical computing term). |
