DLR Deterioration
 

Is something up with the DLR, eg maintenance being deferred or
something?

Speed seems to be so restricted over certain sections that I would
think that the timetable must have to take into account extended
journey times.

Heading north, it stops half way from Lewisham to Elverson Road and
then eventually trickles into the station. It goes at a crawl, with
frequent braking, through to Greenwich, and there are many other
sections where it seems to be slower than before.

The rocking/hunting is so bad on some sections (eg Mudchute to
Crossharbour) that it's making me quite nervous.

The speed and ride may never have been all that brilliant, but does
anyone know why both seem to be getting significantly worse in recent
months?

Could it be caused by recent timetable change for Stratford branch?
New schedule has almost twice more trains between Canary Wharf and
Stratford (during the day), which could affect the trains south of
Canary Wharf.

It doesn't seem to be related to congestion. They just go very slowly
and rock about, whether anything is in front or not.

It doesn't have to be congestion right in front of the train - DLR
controllers might want to slow down all DLR trains south of Canary
Wharf to avoid congestion to the north. And stop/wait/go pattern seems
to be common for most automated systems - for some reason just
lowering speeds does not work for them.

Then again, some weird things indeed are happening on the DLR. For
example, I witnessed many times trains abruptly stopping about 1/3
into new Stratford platforms, waiting for 30-40 seconds, and the
continuing to the normal positions - which is very confusing for some
passengers, who ran to the stopped trains, and then back to the normal
position.

ELL Extension - near Geffrye Museum
 

I was at the Geffrye Museum yesterday - well worth a visit if you
haven't been there before.
I assume that the railway to the east of the museum (ie the line heading
north/south parallel to Kingslan Road) is the route of the ELL
extension. I saw a JCB on there yesterday.
Looking out of the cafe at the Geffrye there is a building underneath/at
the side of the railway at Dunloe Street.

A Google search turns up that this might be the foundations for a signal

(scroll down to Dunloe Street). Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Where are the 'new' stations to be on this section of line?
