Major projects update
Extract from About Watford - Watford Borough Council magazine
January 2008 Major projects update The focus now will be on major projects which will aim to make it easier for everyone to move around the area, particularly Watford. Some of these are already in the pipeline and you may have seen some news in the local press. They include work to improve Watford Junction station, such as: .building a new road to link St Albans Road and Colonial Road.(Way) .building a new entrance to the station on the north side and moving access to car parking from the new road .increasing the capacity of the car park and making improvements to it .altering the main entrance so that it is easier for buses and taxis to go in and out .providing more cycle parking There is also a big project being developed called the Croxley Rail Link which will allow Metropolitan Line underground trains to travel via a currently disused rail line and stop at Watford High Street and Watford Junction. There is some legal procedures to follow and planning permission will be needed but if all goes well the Watford Junction project could start by 2011 with the Croxley Rail Link following within a year or two. ............. .............
