we were workin in Bath yesterday, on the way back our train was
(eventually) cancelled and we were taxi'd to Swindon where we (finally, cold and hungry) got a train to paddington. This all made our day a bit of an epic, is there any point in complaining, and to who, and is any compensation due? -- Mark. www.MarkVarleyPhoto.co.uk www.TwistedPhotography.co.uk www.TwistedArts.co.uk www.BeautifulBondage.net |

Presumably you were over an hour late so you'll get 50%, maybe 100% (if you were two hours late) of the return ticket price back in vouchers http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Content.aspx?id=442 You can get a form from a station. |

Paul S I don't know why the initial train was cancelled, they were saying the delays were 'waiting for train crew' or some such. we transferred to swindon and the train we got there was delayed 'due to a freight train seperating', or words to that effect. no mention of weather. -- Mark. www.MarkVarleyPhoto.co.uk www.TwistedPhotography.co.uk www.TwistedArts.co.uk www.BeautifulBondage.net |

I recall something about a freight grinding to a halt in the Severn Tunnel and causing general mayhem. So FGW should be happy to refund passengers and claim it back from NR or the freight company - in principle. Tim |

Ironically, I only went by train that day because earlier in the week a car trip to Reading had taken 2 hours longer than normal. They won't be getting any more of my custom where I have a choice. tim |
