Wouldn't enforcing people's basic human rights make you a 'human
rights traitor', though?

You forfeit various rights when you commit a crime. Freedom for
example, otherwise you wouldn't get banged up. Anyway , I'm not
getting into this argument in this thread.

Depends on the journey. I live a three minute walk from KXSP station.
Despite this I'll generally take the bus for any journey I can within
central London - because anything that is less than four stops on the
tube, or would involve a change, it'll be quicker.

But that said, I commute to Hammersmith every day, and even though
there's a bus that stops outside my office and thirty seconds from my
house, I would be absolutely insane to take it because it takes an
interminable time to do the length of Oxford Street.

If your journey involves Oxford or Regent Streets the bus will pretty
much always be an experience that makes you want to gouge your eyes
out.

Not sure there's any sort of procedure for here. In another group I
frequent the "organiser" simply starts a new thread and states a date,
time and venue and people can either turn up or they can't. To try to
cater for the wide range of opinions and options is impossible for the
"organiser" to deal with. Alternatively you can request suggestions but
you'll ultimately need to make a ruling to curtail the almost inevitable
"debate".

In answer to your other question I would like to meet a few of the other
"faces" in utl so tentatively I'm in.

Suggestions for a venue are The Doric Arch at Euston (formerly the Head
of Steam) - never been in it myself but well located or the Jugged Hare
on Vauxhall Bridge Road - 5 mins from Victoria. Not too busy but decent
enough beer and food. They will cordon off an area for a group if
requested. Both suggestions are Fullers Pubs which may not be to
everyone's taste but they are reasonably located for bus, tube and rail
links.

I'm with Mr. C. here, both in that I'll turn up (if shifts allow) and the
two pubs he recommends; I have used both of them and they're perfectly
fine.

If any of this could reasonably fit in with my time in London you could count
me in no trouble! (Don't know the Jugged Hare but the Head of Steam is
fine.)

I quite like the Doric Arch too - and it has appropriate amounts of old
railwayana decorating the walls! Never been to the Jugged Hare.

So, when are Mr Jelf's trips to London and Mr Fitzgerald's off shifts?

Well my first days in London with the possibility of getting some free
time are 29 and 20 April and 1 May 2008.

Currently all of them as I'm 'post op.' ;)

By the time this kicks off, I should have resumed to upsetting Mr Boltar
on a daily basis.

Once an approximate ballpark of when you want to hold it is known, I can
tell you what I'll be working if that helps.

Right. And the Picadilly takes about 20 minutes and, as a backup plan,
the H&C takes about 25, so there's not much reason to consider the bus
for that kind of regular journey.
