Default GE 19 Bridge Push

Looks like it - I guess removal of the pilot beam (the temporary front end)
will await the normal working week. I didn't notice if the main line OHLE
was removed during the slide, presumably there should be ample time to get
the railway reopened for tomorrow morning (famous last words?)...

Is there another short bridge to go in above Brick Lane in due course?

Yes, I guess so. Brick Lane is now closed at that point to give them full
access to remove the temporary stuff and install a permannet span.

The OHLE was not removed. It's visible in my photos* M4 and M7 for example
(taken during the actual move). Network Rail have been using the closure to
do other things. It was the overrun of their work which caused chaos at
Liverpool Street after the weekend closure when the old GE19 was removed, so
tomorrow will be interesting ...

Yes, the pillars to support it are already in place next to the western end
of GE19 (see my photo* N5), and there are support pillars partly built on
the western side of Brick Lane. However, I think it may be the start of a
viaduct to Shoreditch High Street rather than just a short span across the
road.

* The photos are in the collection "ELLX Shoreditch" at
http://rjnews.fotopic.net which I've updated this evening with shots of the
bridge in its final position.

Ah yes I see - having cleaned my monitor - I thought the latter were just
lines in the brickwork!

Very interesting set of pictures altogether - well done. Should answer most
questions about bridge slides (for now)...

Is it completely closed now, or just to vehicles?

They appear to be installing a deck over the line north of the
Broadgate Tower, presumably for more development. They're using the
same crane TfL made a big fuss over for the Shoreditch bridge move.

Correct, as far as I know.

Is Network Rail living in "interesting times" at Liverpool Street this
morning. Thanks to all the BBCJV team for providing a lesson in
complex civil engineering project management. Somehow you can tell
they all had Meccano sets when children. If they are not busy next
weekend - I could do with a hand replacing my garage roof. Thanks to
everyone who has taken and published photographs.

It's open to pedestrians, using a narrow covered way built from scaffolding
on the west side of the road.

National Express East Anglia report on their website "Tuesday 6th May 2008:
Weekend engineering work has been completed and the booked service will
run". Reading between the lines, it says "Network Rail got it right for
once".

Default GE 19 Bridge Push - and now by way of encore - New Cross thisweekend.

Fortified by three or more Shredded Wheat and nourishing builders'
tea, the team that brought us the GE19 Bridge Push are at it again.
The New Cross flyover is scheduled to go ahead this weekend. Does
anyone have details of timings etc?

Just near where they are putting up the bridge near the projected Shoredicth
High Street, there are two LU units sitting on a part of what used to be the
City Branch. Does anybody know what they are doing there and how they got
there?

I believe that they are J stock, used on the Jubilee line for a relatively
short amount of time. I also noticed a while ago that one of the units
appeared to have its hotel lights on. What are they being used for?

I'm guessing that they have been there for a while, because any physical
connection to the rest of the line appears to have been removed.

What is their fate to be, I wonder.

They're 1983 Stock. They were craned in specially a year or two ago to
be used as artists studios. There are four of them, two raised up on
single-storey platforms.
