swiped in but didnt swipe out because the barriers were not in us as they
are not when station not staffed. I might be old but I dont come home for

SWMBO thinks my card and therefore council will be overcharged, will it?

Assuming you have a Freedom Pass, then no:
"Usage of TfL services is measured by surveys on buses and trams,

Ergo, how touch in or out with your card makes no difference to how
the council is charged. You might actually be saving them money.

Also, the Freedom Pass instructions only mention having to touch in or
out when you encounter gates.

I think they're fixed again, but two problems this month is a bit
ridiculous.

Question to anyone that might know- are the problems with PAYG cards
fixed now? I wasn't in London at the time of the problems, so I'm
assuming my cards will be fine? Also, am I correct in understanding that
oyster PAYG works for Chiltern Railways in the LT area? I've a US friend
visiting soon, and I was going to lend him one of my oyster cards- and
he's intending to visit Wembley while in London.

I should just have done my own research rather than believe what I read

Not any more - you can now also use PAYG at Wembley Stadium to
Northolt Park (i.e. all Chiltern stations in the Travelcard zones).
