And a rail-only season ticket MKC-London won't be valid south of
Harrow, without buying a Willesden-Clapham ticket before joining the
train.

But would one actually need a Harrow & Wealdstone to Clapham Junction
ticket? This particular case does seem somewhat ambiguous - we know
that it's legit to combine a season ticket with a normal single or
return even when a train doesn't stop at a particular station, the
question here is whether the MKC to East Croydon via WLL service even
counts for these purposes as passing through Willesden Junction

Yes, its map LM, which has Willesden Junction as a point on the map --
the route goes MKC-Watford-Willesden-Clapham

- the
geographic is that it doesn't pass through any platforms at Willesden
Junction and in fact uses the lines on the south side of the WCML
which are the furthest away from WJ station.

The WCML fast lines don't pass through Queens park. The slow ones do.
There's no guarantee which you'll be on.

I've never had a problem before with a single on Southern from
Kensington Olympia to Willesden plus a season from LBZ to EUS --
althoguh I've only been checked once.

The issues has been discussed before, I'm of the opinion that a London
Terminals ticket is valid via WLL to Vauxhall (Routing point of
Clapham Junction), but I doubt it's true.

It's changed - the advertised services are now the hourly off-peak xx:
10 ECR-WFJ and xx:51 return, so Southern won't be going back to Milton
Keynes Central so soon. In all honestly I couldn't figure out how the
Southern services would be pathed into said station before the new
layout is fully comissioned during the Christmas/New Year blockade...

Late January is the latest I have heard for them getting to MKC.
