Correction, the river at Sloane Sq is actually the Westbourne, related to the Tyburn brook, which is *not* related to the River Tyburn! The Tyburn River crosses the Circle Line in a similar pipe at Baker Street. See the top two pictures at: http://londonist.com/2008/12/lost_ri...e_tyburn_2.php I think there may be a similar construction at Victoria, although I don't know if it's visible from the platform. There's some doubt about the most southerly part of the course of the Tyburn, but it's thought that Tachbrook Street in Pimlico commemorates the route of one of the branches of the river. -- Paul Terry |
