If people can afford an air ticket from Heathrow they can afford the
train journey most likely. The HEX seems designed for business
travellers who don't pay anyway. Crossrail will probably be expensive
but people will still pay because it would be much quicker and better
than any other way of doing things.

What is meant by a premium on the DLR to Lewisham?

with the North London line is that the trains aren't frequent enough
and there aren't enough interchanges with other lines.

Livingstone says that Crossrail to Heathrow will be included in the
Travelcard scheme. But he might not be the one deciding...

But didn't he say that if was the only way to fund Crossrail, a
supplement (a la DLR Lewisham) would be allowed?

What supplement is there on the DLR to Lewisham? As far as I am aware the
fares to Lewisham are exactly the same as the fare to anywhere else in the
same zones.

Fares from Heathrow aren't necessarily expensive at all. Apart from
that I'd agree.

It was suggested as a way of raising money, but not done in the end.
Wasn't the underwater bit going to be an extra zone? Or was it the
whole of the extension?

Yeah, pretty useless for me, it would be Victoria walthamstow-highbury,
nll-gunnersbury, district-hammersmith, h&c to shepherds bush, then 800
yard walk to work.

If there were an interchange with the central at acton it might be worth a
look, still take longer then going via zone 1 though.

I'm not sure they've decided yet. There's a lot of modelling being
done of the various options, to see which works best during times of
disruption.

Since posting my message above I have read some further material at the
Crossrail website which states quite explicitly that the 6 CrossRail
trains per hour to Heathrow will replace the HEX service. But it still
does not indicate if these will all call at Ealing Broadway and Hayes.
