Its either going to close in 18months or its going to close in
18months. Im not sure which. Anyway its going to close definely. So they can rebuild it make it 21st century style. More intresting for children. Some big video plasma screen or something. They should make it free to visit as well. All muesums should be free. The National Rail Muesum in York is the best muesum in the country and you don't pay a penny to visit. And yes I know I can't spell museum. |

Its either going to close in 18months or its going to close in 18months. Im not sure which. Huh? Curiously, I can't see anything about closure on the Museum's web site, but since their major development project is planned for 2005, closure is not a surprise. The press release about the project (issued July 2003) is at http://www.ltmuseum.co.uk/about/press/press_cgp.html Anyway its going to close definely. So they can rebuild it make it 21st century style. More intresting for children. Some big video plasma screen or something. "The scheme will resolve current environmental problems that prevent the Museum from being able to safely show around 75% of its collections, including many of its star attractions such as the famous posters, original artwork, photographs, architectural drawings and printed ephemera. This means the Museum will be able to choose from over 300,000 more items to provide dramatic new integrated displays presenting the whole unique story of London's transport and its impact on London and Londoners." The building itself (the former Flower Market at Covent Garden) is listed and its preservation will be supported by the changes (like stopping the roof leaking). They should make it free to visit as well. All muesums should be free. Ah, so now that you're living in the North, you don't mind TfL putting up the fares (the high level of which you have complained about many times), so that you can come up to London and visit the museum for free? -- Richard J. I hope they keep the driver simulators, they are strangely quite fun, but get boring after a while because it is just tunnel and you can't do anything like close the doors or make announcments. And yes I know I can't spell museum. Yes you can Staff (& Priv. ticket) holders get in free. Just show your pass at the desk and they give you a free ticket. -- To reply direct, remove NOSPAM and replace with railwaysonline For Train Information, The Latest News & Best photos around check out the Award Winning Railways Online at http://www.railwaysonline.co.uk |

I thought it was owned by Transport For London Or London Underground which I do belive you London Taxpayers (and probably us newly Non-London Tax-payers) pay for? Therefore we own? Or is Transport Mueseum owned by someone else? London's Transport Museum is owned by TfL. And my orginal question is it going to close in 18months or is it going to close for 18months? Since found out its going to close for 18months in 2005. And in Reply to Richard J. I still come to London and have to endure the high cost of London Underground fares. So do you want to pay even more to ensure that the museum is free, or are you expecting us Londoners to subsidise your visits? If the latter, why? -- Richard J.
