![]() The planned development has been approved.... a new Thameslink station south of the NCR is part of the plan. Also a new road bridge from the A5/Oxgate Gardens junction eastward over the railway. I'd like to think the new bridge will make Cricklewood Lane less trafficky, but the extra houses in the area might mean the end result is an even more congested area. http://www.brentcrosscricklewood.com...transport.html -- We are the Strasbourg. Referendum is futile. |

![]() "Basil Jet" wrote in message ... The planned development has been approved.... a new Thameslink station south of the NCR is part of the plan. but it won't be built until there are enough passengers to serve it. By which time, of course, all those passengers will have long since found alternative routes There's also the question of existing stations, which now might be closed down rather than making them long enough for new trains Also a new road bridge from the A5/Oxgate Gardens junction eastward over the railway. I'd like to think the new bridge will make Cricklewood Lane less trafficky, but the extra houses in the area might mean the end result is an even more congested area. http://www.brentcrosscricklewood.com...transport.html As time goes by, to prevent that congestion, restrictions in parking at the houses will gradually be introduced on the later houses built. I can forsee some interesting events when the phase 2 people start parking in the phase 1 spaces, because they don't have enough spaces of their own There's an interesting structure of transport committees designed to oversee all this, with extra committees to insulate the master committee from any protests. The master committee was originally to be just Barnet and the developers, but TfL partially forced their way on to it, but only for some kinds of decision And the bike plans, especially for the new Borisway 11, are a true black comedy, even though the lift has now gone. The area is to have not one, but two bike plans, or rather a "plan" and a "strategy", but not, of course, until everything has already been set in concrete (probably literally) A good facility has been defined as one meeting the London Cycling Design Standards, which, for example, recommend a design speed for bike paths half that used in other countries. Don't mention pay parking for Brent Cross shoppers. The little tram, to share the tracks with the Southampton - Heathrow - Cambridge High Speed 3 rail line, and the existing freight trains, will not be built, nor the Orbital Tube Jeremy Parker |
