It was definately showing the full C3 destination in earlier photos... For the benefit of Merkin tourists, and their NY lawyers. DW downunder |

Pretty much standard practice. But why? What's the point of it? It seems just as stupid as blurring out registration plates on cars in TV reports - anyone on the scene could see them anyway. The logic with airlines is that people may be put off flying with Air XYZ if they recall seeing pictures of an Air XYZ plane in pieces. It's not a new habit: I recall them painting over the logos 50 years ago. I somehow doubt though that people will think 'better not get on that C3 bus, it might overturn'. on Wed, 16 Dec 2009, Richard J. remarked: It's evidently Hird Rail Services of Doncaster (the logo on the truck matches the one on their site). Presumably if they do work south of the Thames, they'd have to be referred to as t'Hird Rail Services. -- Roland Perry |

Because most people seeing it on TV aren't ever going to see it at the scene. |

It's not just a logical thing. It also affects the irrational (and even subconscious) parts of the mind - the mental association with the image of the fallen bus triggers an emotional reaction. |

The incident did occur South of the Thames of course, about half an hour before I passed nearby on my bike. There was no ice at all then. -- Colin Rosenstiel Nice picture in yesterday's "Telegraph" even though it referred to the location as Clapham! And, the previous news reports referred to the "junction between Plough Lane and St. John's Hill" when in fact the incident happened a good few hundred yards away! Marc. |
