Interesting experience on the Bakelooo Line at the weekend. The
carriage had about 20 people in it, mainly scattered around. At Oxford
Circus two women (sans male escorts) entered one end of the carriage
and sat down. They were dressed all in black - like they do in Iraq /
Iran. They had the real slitty-eyed look. Well quite a few people
looked at them and then at each other and suddenly decided that they
really did not want to be sitting near them, and they moved towards
the other end of the carriage near where I was. Not that that would
have saved them in an emergency. One of two muttered "well you never
know do you?" I got off at Charing Cross, but noticed that by then the
two women had their end of the carriage all to themselves. What would
you have done? SB.

If they'd have been nuns would people have been so stupid? After all the
costume is much the same.

The OP doesn't spend much time in London, does he? An utterly normal
scene.

People actually noticing each other on the Underground is pretty
unusual... though at least he didn't claim anyone spoke to each other.

If they had been suicide bombers they would be acting alone to
maximise damge. Neither would they draw attention to themselves by
dressing in such an obvious manner. Perhaps moving to the other
end of the carriage placed people next to the real bomber who was
standing there incognito.

Indeed, a variant on the IRA tactics (particularly in their latter
years).

Since when did the IRA use suicide bombers?

I never claimed that they did. However, particularly in their later
years, they had a habit of sometimes placing a bomb where people
might congregate after moving away from a "bomb". Whether this first
"bomb" was real or not was somewhat immaterial, it was the second
one which was intended to kill and injure the most people.

It was sometimes claimed that this was to do with some fault, by the
person who got the warning and passed it on, or by the police, but
there are only so many times it can be used before that excuse is
untennable.

Of course, this is another big difference between aQ and the IRA -- the
former are proud to kill innocent bystanders (who are most often
Moslems), the latter claimed to have no desire so to do.

Planting bombs is a pretty crap way of avoiding killing people. Of
course you can argue about "innocent" - which side was your great^x
grandmother on in 1169?

If anything, it seems to be the far-ish left who see Jewish (and/or
Israeli and/or Zionist) conspiracies everywhere.

And that's exactly what the alien lizards want them to think.

Ah but are these alien lizards white, gray, or tangerine coloured?

The "Birmingham speech" is an interesting piece of oration, one that
should be read carefully and the various opinions picked apart and
considered.

My fav line is a the quote from one of his constituents that is
supposed to have inspired the speech: "If I had the money to go, I
wouldn't stay in this country".

In the latter case ISTR it was some people with their own idea of
what religion demanded.

which then is _their_ decision to follow that religious urge or not.
I have met women who feel naked when their face is not completely
covered by some chemical product, hiding their own facial skin.

It can be even worse, if a women has to uncover more of her body as
she is accustomed to.

This male, patriarchal society should not make rules about how much
of their body women have to cover or to lay bare to the male public.

Yes, British men are so well known for noticing and caring about what
women are wearing.

Such clothing is traditional for women to wear in some areas of the
world.

There is some debate over whether it is religious or cultural.

which is irrelevant.

The issue is the women's right to decide themselves about their
clothing -- or should the government decide if a skirt may reach
beyond the knee, or not, or if a woman may wear a bra or not?

Cheers,

Wearing of a bra is often easy, just get them to jump up and down.
