How much of this still exists in some form? I believe the 405 to
Redhill and the 409 to East Grinstead as they are now were once part of it, but what else is there? |

Here's an interesting question: How far is it possible to go in any one direction using only local bus services? By this, I mean taking a bus to one point and then transferring to the next regional operator and so forth. I don't mean coaches or anything of that nature, but using local buses, the types of which we might see in London. I think when the free bus passes for pensioners were introduced someone went all the way from Lands End to John O'Groats by bus for free. Peter Smyth |

Peter Smyth I went from London to Edinburgh in 3 days using 27 local buses (and one cheat). But one's over-60 bus pass is only valid in one's home country -- England or Scotland but not both. So I doubt the Land's End -- John O'Groats journey was done for free. |

I wonder what routes he took. |

Since you managed to find a direct bus route from Sydney airport to the Opera House, which nobody else seems to know about, I think we'll overlook the cheat. :-) -- Richard J. Change the walk to a 400, still only 3 local buses. E. |
