You obviously haven't been in the City of London when City of London Police are having a quiet day and decide to stop cyclists after a set of traffic lights. -- Simon Hewison Avon & Somerset regularly blitz pavement-riding cyclists in central Bristol; recently they stationed cops and PCSOs on a certain bridge for a working week during rush hour; Monday the cyclists got stopped for a friendly warning and were gently reminded of the cycle lane adjacent to the pavement they were on; the rest of the week they got £30 fixed penalty notices. Also a case of a cyclist shooting a red light got in the local papers after he whined publicly about getting done; the overwhelming public response was "serve him right". He worked in a local organic food shop and I gather from his quoted ranting that he seemed to think that he had "eco-warrior" status exempting him from obeying the law. Pillock. |
