Avantix agrees. Depart Dover after 10am.

Which means you won't get to start sightseeing until lunchtime. That's
one reason to start off driving as far as possible to begin with.

True, especially as it gets dark at 3.30-4pmish in December, that doesn't
leave you much daylight.

So, stations in zone 4/5/6 that it's easy to drive to from Kent and park at?

That's where my lack of local knowledge of that quadrant of London lets
me down.

I've got various bits and pieces to contribute to this thread, but
that's just going to have to wait for a day or two.

Said station also needs to have a reasonably fast service into and out of
London - there are a lot of *very* slow trains in that part of the world.
Somewhere close to the A2 or A20 (Bexley? Eltham? Mottingham?) might fit the
bill, but I don't know enough about parking or trains.

I once stashed a car free of charge a few minutes walk from New Cross Gate
early one morning and then went to work from there. I was having dinner
nearby with a friend and wanted to have the car so that I could drive home
afterwards. In terms of accessibility this is less daft than the OP's
proposal to park at Morden, but I suspect Ebbsfleet is the best deal
overall.

I thought of North Greenwich (for the Dome) and Jubilee Line, as it's
close to those major roads; but despite what's presumably a lot of
rather under-utilised daytime parking there, it seems a bit expensive.

I suspect Ebbsfleet is the best deal overall.

Quite likely, especially if the weather is bad.

I've got some idea about the quadrant for public transport, but bugger
all idea about parking anywhere in the world.

(Guess: is it something to do with motor cars?)
