Default DLR Stratford extension - date anyone?

There were multiple delays on the Jubilee extension, including
escalating costs, lack of promised finance, and worries about the New
Austrian Tunnelling Method used.

Is that the same method, where the tunnel collapsed under Heathrow?

Yes, and that's the reason for one of the Jubilee extension delays.

But the full moving block signalling had to be abandoned because it
was an untried system developed by Westinghouse, and couldn't be made
to work.

Isn't it moving block on the DLR?

The Jubilee contract eventually went to Alcatel, who had provided a
workable system for the DLR, but the Jubilee solution was not full
moving block (partly because of difficulties integrating with the older
signalling on the rest of the Jubilee line).

Have they got anywhere near getting it working on the Jubilee yet?

I think that most of it is now working.

Maybe they learned from the Woolwich opening, but it is taking longer

Perhaps I might take a copy of the DLR's letter of apology with me when
I go see the new bit, just in case!

I think you might have to expand on what happened to you as I don't
recall reading about it. Doesn't sound terribly positive though!

"I know it's illegal to take pictures of trains, 'cos my brother's a PCSO".

When a more senior DLR person admitted that I was doing nothing wrong, a
member of staff said she could simply claim I had assaulted her. Imagine
her expression when I pointed out that we were (almost certainly) on
CCTV :-)

Good grief. As soon as PCSO was mentioned my hackles would have been
raised. Not my preferred brand of "police" man.

It was /very/ hard not to laugh at that point!

Thankfully I have not had that sort of experience on the DLR - in fact
it has been remarkably trouble free to date.

The only other time I've had any hassle with a camera was in Serbia. The
official was trying to tell me the light would be better round the other
side of the loco
