A few weeks before the tsunami struck Fukushima s uranium reactors and shattered public faith in nuclear power, China revealed that it was launching a rival technology to build a safer, cleaner, and ultimately cheaper network of reactors based on thorium. Continued at: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/c..._pritchard/839... http://tinyurl.com/4t5ojde The technology has been known for a while. As have pebble bed reactors. Unfortunately this technology is considered politically incorrect. It may be possible to have thorium reactors small enough to power a road vehicle. Thorium reactor/electric powered railroad locomotives seem entirely possible, But the eco wariors prefer windmills. They also like solar panels which consume considerable energy during manufacture. And do not mention biofuels, these have caused food shortages as farmers grow corn for fuel instead of food for livestock. |

Unfortunately there are many in the green movement who are against pretty much everything. If you mention nuclear they jump up and down and shout about windfarms and then another lot will jump up and down and complain about windfarms killing the lesser spotted snot gobbler when it flies into the blades at night.
