TfL - "Victoria Tube station escalator work completed three months early"
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/21319.aspx The overall works are far from finished though - the redevelopment of the Tube station is due for completion in 2018. The above press release includes this tidbit: "The three escalators which run down to the Victoria line platforms and which include the second most-used escalator in the world with 21 million customers hopping on each year, were out of service one at a time, in sequence, while they were being worked on." Obvious question - what's the most used escalator in the world then? |

Presumably one of the other two while the second-most was out of commission. -- Graeme Wall This account not read, substitute trains for rail. Railway Miscellany at www.greywall.demon.co.uk/rail |

I've seen links to the Grand Central Terminal being the busiest. -- Phil Cook |

This press release says Tottenham Court Road: http://www.cbsoutdoorinternational.c...-Centre/Press- Releases/Digital-Posters-really-do-captivate-London-Underground- travellers/ (Busiest on LUL, hence if Victoria's less busy, it must get the global crown). -- Roland Perry |

It claimed it was verified by the Guinness Book of Records, but a search on their website failed to find it. -- Richard J. (to email me, swap 'uk' and 'yon' in address) |

Presumably that means the escalators up from the GCT concourse into the Met Life (formerly PanAm) building, from which pax can exit to 45th St. They are busy, but they're not the only exit from GCT by any means so I'd be a bit doubtful they're the busiest in the world. -- Roy |

I was pretty amazed when I read the press release and saw it was going to be 2016 before the North entrance is opened - thought it was going to be well before then. |
