I can't say I find it particularly confusing, mostly because we
have brilliant ticket office staff who take the time to explain
new procedures to me even though I don't have the training for
their work. I always try to get good up-to-date information from
them, from the helpline and from just about anywhere available to
me, before I post anything.

What station is this at? I think my sister may have to buy her ticket
there as she is currently being told she can't get her youth travelcard
on oyster.

Not sure what you mean by a Youth Travelcard
If she's 18+ and has a photocard issued by her university, college or
school she can have a 7 day or more Travelcard card issued on Oyster.
