Vine Street Uxbridge - sign to be auctioned

Letters: I THINK your readers will be interested to know about an item of local interest which is coming up for sale on June 8 at Chippenham Auction Rooms. It is one of the two original metal and enamel signs which were outside Uxbridge Vine Street station. This large nameboard has been kept for many years by the vendor in a spare room in his Wembley flat, following the closure of the station in 1962. I understand there was a great uproar in Uxbridge when British Railways announced the closure of the branch line and station. It is anticipated that there will be great interest among the ‘railwayana’ collecting fraternity in this item, which carries an estimate of £150 to £200.
