Yes, I should have checked for which bit of the tube wasn't running during a w/e for what must be getting on for the 10th year in a row. They've finished painting the Forth Bridge for a while, but there seems little likelihood of weekend maintenance coming to an end on the Underground. There's new signalling to come on the SSL, S stock trains to be introduced on the Circle and District lines, all-new trains on the Picc, and later the replacement of the other old Tube stock, the Northern line Battersea extension, etc, etc. So more fool you if you don't use the Journey Planner before undertaking a weekend journey. |

My better half and I find said email very useful. |

Yes, I get that too, but if you want to look further ahead, the TfL Journey Planner knows about planned works months ahead and you can get a quick visual overview on this site: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/livetravelnews...orks/calendar/ |

Any reason they can't do overnight maintenance like other metro systems manage to do? replacement of the other old Tube stock, the Northern line Battersea extension, etc, etc. So more fool you if you don't use the Journey Planner before undertaking a weekend journey. Clearly, the problem is that TfL do not have someone with your expertise in critical path analysis, modern signal installation, and labor allocation, running these upgrades. You need to apply for the job ASAP. |
