What a totally pathetic way to try and make - well I should stay steal - money, as is the case for such incidents involving cars. At least buses have CCTV I suppose - most cars here don't have 'dashcams' (though I imagine the number will increase), whilst in say Russia they appear to be prevalent. In the case of the guy who featured slamming on the brakes in front of a bus, the date on the CCTV is July 2011 whilst the reporter says he'll be sentenced next month, so he can't have been convicted that long ago - the wheels of justice do seem to turn slowly at times. Anyone who sees such a thing happening should go out of their way to make themselves known as a witness to the party that is a victim - don't let the fraudsters get away with it. |

Agree - but if someone slams on the brakes in front of you regardless of reason and you hit them, and they did not cut you up, you share the blame as you were too close. This scam is largely only viable because of bad driving on the part of its victims. Neil -- Neil Williams in Milton Keynes, UK. Put first name before the at to reply. |

at normal driving speeds on open roads, because the scumhounds do not want to get hurt. They occur at very slow speeds at roundabouts and T-junctions where, because all the vehicles are moving slowly, drivers get much closer to other vehicles than is usual. They hit the other vehicle, not because they have not left enough stopping distance, but because they are taken completely by surprise and don't react instantly. If all motorists left enough distance between vehicles to make this scam at roundabouts impossible, London's traffic would sieze up. |
