![]() Oh, FFS! Why can't they put barriers on the interchange link too? Possibly just an interim step to mitigate the congestion in the ticket hall pending the major works planned to make the ticket hall bigger etc etc [1]? I only use the station occasionally, and outside rush hours, but have been hit (sic) even then by the awful crossflow caused by the 2 sets of gates. [1] There was summat in the free London papers and Google finds for me http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/medi...tro/29279.aspx -- Robin reply to address is (meant to be) valid |

FCC put ticket gates on their platforms Some of them. The new platform 1 and 2 (used by most local stopping services heading towards Moorgate and King's Cross don't have barriers for some reason. 5 and 6 also don't have barriers but very few trains use them. |

I presume this is because the FCC barriers were put in before 1 & 2 were completed and that therefore they will be coming along soon. They were put in before 1 and 2 were started. They are actually old platforms that have been brought back into use but that has meant installing a lift, moving the stairs, new platform buildings, new platform surfaces, new signs, new CCTV, new PA etc. It seems odd that gates weren't included in all that. Is there a plan to gate the whole station which would make barriers on the platforms unnecessary? |

They were partly constructed before the war for the Northern Heights extension of the Northern City Line but never completed before now. -- Colin Rosenstiel |

Thank you for that. Most helpful (as usual); and all well within her
capability. Thank you too for telling me where I could have found the info. for myself. I did look; and have changed my Firefox settings so I can try to do better in the future on the NR site (although I know that's probably as credible as the dog ate my homework). I have also noted the way to get the info from the TfL site. (I was interested to compare that with where I was led to when I followed the link from Jouney Planner to the page for Finsbury Park station http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/...s/1000083.aspx That tells me there is no step-free access. But it points for details only to Step-Free tube guide (which adds nothing more) or to http://www.directenquiries.com/. I gave up on the latter but encouraged (and embarrassed) by your info. I revisited it and find that after 7 (!) further clicks I can get the same answer (albeit in a prettier graphical format). -- Robin reply to address is (meant to be) valid |
