Obviously I know that this isn't a scale model of an actual proposed train, but just from a firm of designers, but I had a few observations on the model, FWIW: This pic seems to confirm the absence of a driver's cab: https://www.flickr.com/photos/recliner/15464378918/ The attendant is shown in the passenger saloon. This is supposed to be a Heathrow-bound Piccadilly Line train, but I see no space for luggage: https://www.flickr.com/photos/recliner/15464554657/ Also, it doesn't have the standard Tube livery. I wonder if this is just the designers indulging themselves, or is TfL contemplating a new livery for the new trains? And again, recognising that this is just an indicative model and not an engineering scale model, the windows are bigger than in other recent Tube trains, though not as big as the 92TS. I hope the real ones follow through on this The trains will also have level access from platforms. From the video, it looks like this is planned to be achieved mainly by raising platforms, though I wonder if the train floors will also be lower? |

If they lower the train floors then they'll be ****ed on curved platforms unless they reduce the width of the floor as per S stock which is a really poor design decision for a packed tube train which needs all the standing room it can get. -- Spud |

It really does, however, look like at 38TS Mk II Also, it doesn't have the standard Tube livery. I wonder if this is just the designers indulging themselves, or is TfL contemplating a new livery for the new trains? Indulgence, I'm guessing. Where are the wine pictures from, BTW? I myself am partial to Rioja. |

I haven't given it a great deal of thought, but I share Paul C's concerns that this feels a bit too much like the New Bus for London design process - the last thing that's needed at the end of this is a hobbled train as the result of some fancy conceptual design. (On the specific issue of a livery - that shouldn't be important, certainly not at this stage. Perhaps the designs concepts should all come with a lurid pink and brown livery, to prove that very point.) |

But this was a visual design study, which was all about having authentic seat moquettes, floors, etc. The model and video are about the look of the train, not the as-yet-undesigned engineering. For that, we'll have to wait for the manufacturers' mock-ups. |

To me it is so much better than what went before that it is very difficult to criticise it. Yes, I agree -- I think they're great, whether packed or with empty seats. A huge improvement on the C Stock and a generally big improvement on the A stock, apart from for the long distance commuters from Amersham and Chesham, who've both lost out. |

I don't have a problem with them other than the idiotic decision to lower the floor which makes the carriage narrower at the doors and the doors an odd and difficult shape to lean against. Now you might not think that a problem but then I suspect you don't commute on them in the central london rush hour. -- Spud |
