One year they're telling us the bright yellow grab poles everywhere are for
the partially sighted, disability laws blah blah, the next they refurb the northern line trains in dark blue. Never mind joined up thinking, is there any thinking going on at all down there? Having said that the refurb does look nice but I am wondering just how necessary it was to spend millions on it when there was little wrong with the old interior that a lick of paint couldn't have fixed. -- Spud |

![]() I heard the Central Line trains had been refurbished, but I went in a few recently and couldn't see any difference. Is the new interior identical to the old one? |

The new seats are blue (standard, it seems), the old ones were...I can't remember, but not blue. I think grey and red? Neil -- Neil Williams Put my first name before the @ to reply. |

I don't care what colour they are. The main difference is that the old seats were reasonably well padded, the new ones are little better than wooden benches. With less comfortable seats and lateral seating (so you can't readily see out of the window when above gound), closing ticket offices and public toilets, the tube is becoming less and less welcoming. It's also carrying more and more passengers... record numbers in fact. |
