As of last weekend Walton-on-Thames railway station is no longer a bus
teacup (from 29 August '15). Previously all buses came in to Station Avenue from or across Hersham Road, all stops served buses in all directions and all buses returned to or crossed Hersham Road. (North Surrey, predominantly Abellio Surrey) http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and...etable-changes Now buses passing or for the same destination leave from opposite stops on Station Avenue. To Hersham Green the 555 goes via Hersham Rd and the 458 (to Kingston) via Ashley Rd and Queens Road To Walton town centre the 458 (to Staines) continues via Hersham Rd and the 555 (Heathrow Central) now goes via Ashley Rd past some very expensive houses that haven't seen a 2 bph service in living memory. Also an extended 514 service to Weybridge and beyond now passes for a total 5 bph in each direction. Whichever committee thought this up must had fun. No buses to Middleborough though and the anomaly that one street had twice as many buses per hour on Sundays has gone. Will the Council remove the "Warning Buses Turn Right From Nearside" sign, now wholly redundant ? -- Mike D |
