According to Brighton & Hove news website (and others): http://www.brightonandhovenews.org/2...-from-tuesday/ "Southern says it is restoring its full service from Tuesday following news that the Aslef union has suspended its industrial action pending talks hailed yesterday as "an important and significant development". "Aslef has called off the three strikes next week, and also its ban on drivers working overtime, which was severely disrupting services on non-strike days, pending talks which are due to start this morning." ... article continues. They seemed to be celebrating last night by running a fairly complete (and on time) service in the evening peak. I travelled on an extra service that departed Victoria at 1844 to Brighton. According to Realtime Trains this was operated by Gatwick Express, formed with 2 x Class 455, which is a bit rare for a main line service to Brighton. When we got to Brighton there was a Class 422 set waiting on another platform - I thought these had all been 'replaced' with 487s now? Your numbering is a bit off. Class 422 were slam-door sets (4BIG) which were withdrawn in the 1990s. You mean Class 442. Southern is planning to continue use of a couple of them until 2018. Class 487 were the Waterloo & City tube trains that ran from 1940 to 1993. You mean Class 387. So did you really travel on a Class 455 to Brighton, or was it some other number? :-) -- Richard J.
