I was the person who ordered them. It's a story I've told before,
but although the tickets are real, they're not authentic - they were
issued in 1982!

It could be that a similar thing happened in the appropriate DMO.

Ok, as all sorts of theories, interesting stories though, are coming up. If
anyone has the appropriate Fares Manual for 2001, they should have a look at
this ticket therein.

located at the road leading out of Eynsford to Lullingstone Roman
Villa. Was the intention to close Eynsford?

No, nothing *that* interesting at all

The Manual, and Tribute, contained a fairly massive error on this ticket
which was exploited by a number of lucky (if dishonest) people. My post
merely came out of wondering if this was known at the time at all.

No, it wasn't *that* close to Eynsford and the plan was to expand the
surrounding area with new development, and the station was to be built as a
part of this - e.g. there would be a load of commuterland pretty much
stretching between the two stations.

In the event, neither actually happened, with post-war greenbelt legislation
probably playing some part, although the station platforms were still in
situ last time I went through the station - probably about 8 years ago.

No, it was at the southern end of Eynsford tunnel. The buildings
lasted for many years, until they were used in the reconstruction of
Canterbury East in 1959. The up platform was still much in evidence
when I worked the line in the eighties. It may well still be.

There were plans to build a big housing estate in the area. The
nearest road is Crockenhill Lane, which leads from Eynsford to
Crockenhill.

the basis that the station wasn't in regular use?
