Minor problem here... Picc drivers don't 'know' Ealing Broadway and
District drivers don't 'know' 73TS. I'm pretty sure Piccadilly drivers do (or at least did) know Ealing Broadway as it's a diversionary route which has happened in the past. Apart from that, it would be very confusing to the punters as they would have some 73 stock running all stations and some non-stop. Nothing a good announcement at Hammersmith wouldn't solve. |

Apart from a driver accepting a wrong signal and going there by accident? They might know it, but I don't think they "know" it, i.e. sign a certificate for it on a six-monthly basis, because I don't believe every Picc driver gets to go there every 6 months. -- John Rowland - Spamtrapped Transport Plans for the London Area, updated 2001 http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acro...69/tpftla.html A man's vehicle is a symbol of his manhood. That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line - It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes |

If Ealing Broadway is used for a Picc. diversion a pilotman is required. The only time a Picc. driver would know Ealing Broadway would be if he had recently transfered over from the District. -- Cheers, Steve. If The Good Lord had meant for us to be fiscally prudent, He would not have given us the platinum credit card... Change colour to PC Plod's lights to reply. |

It may well have been used in the past but route knowledge only lasts for 6 months when not used - then you require a pilotman. EBY isn't taught to new Piccadilly drivers either (I've never done it, I'm just aware it exists), it's only used in an emergency (ie. if you're given the wrong route at Hanger Lane and for some reason the signalman can't put the route back to correct it, or a shutdown on the Rayner's branch after you've left ACT) -- Steve Fitzgerald has now left the building. You will find him in London's Docklands, E16, UK (please use the reply to address for email) |
