In fact, with the closure of the Jubilee Line platforms, there's probably a good case for closing off the subway linking the two and going back to calling the Bakerloo Line platforms Trafalgar Square. I can see the logic in going back to calling the Bakerloo Line platforms Trafalgar Square, but not in closing off the subway linking the two. Apart from the safety benefits of having a link, it's a lot more convenient for the passengers going to Charing Cross to catch a train. But it's such a long, depressing corridor. I'd rather leave by the South Africa House exit and walk across the Strand. It may take a minute or two longer, but it *feels* much shorter. Better yet, why not reopen the escalators via the old Jubilee Line concourse? They'd also break up the walk and make it feel shorter. |
