The nearest tube would be the DLR station Cutty Sark. From there, it is a short, steep walk up the hill to the Observatory, where the 0 degree line is marked on the ground. To get to Cutty Sark from Central London, go to Bank Station and get on any DLR train that is going to Lewisham. It takes about 20 minutes. Colin Rosenstiel writes During a brief period of working in Cambridge some years ago I had the same privilege, going from the Eastern to Western hemispheres every morning! You can't have worked in Cambridge then! The meridian passes some miles West of Cambridge. If he lived west of the meridian and worked nights, then his journey home from Cambridge would cross it in the morning. -- Roland Perry |

Yes, but with a daytime job that would be from Western to Eastern Hemisphere every morning ... (Don't ever underestimate how pedant some Cambridge people are!!) -- Roland Perry |
