Apparently, Tube drivers are going to be issued with shorts for the summer!!
Is this to go with the sunglasses they got last year to wear in the tunnels?
Or to wear on the next picket line!

Nah, to go with the DVD players, newspapers, mobile phones and other apperel
they need to perform the strenuous task of pressing 3 buttons and pulling a
lever every 5 minutes.

A tube driver allegedly caught watching a DVD while in charge of a passenger
train has been sacked, it was revealed today.

Last year a mainline driver was dismissed after he used his mobile phone to
contact a radio phone-in programme - and was heard by an off-duty manager.

I've lost count of the number of drivers (victoria line seems the worst

Of course the district one last night was fine - did nothing wrong apart
from throw some rubbish out of his door leaving West Kensington. At least I
hope it was rubbish (chewing gum or something), and not a cigarette butt.

I got my Rayban issue some years back. A couple of years ago they did
another issue. However, because I now wear glasses for driving, they say
I've got to have the clip on ones. They've never bothered issuing these to
anybody - I think someone has a car boot sale somewhere.

If the shorts issue is anything like the other uniform issue, then I won't
hold my breath. The issuing of uniform on London Underground, like
everything else, has now degenerated into a complete shambles. My depot
had a uniform issue last September. Some people are still waiting for
their issue as they have received nothing at all, many are waiting for
outstanding items. I'm still waiting for my shoes.
