2021, D A Stocks remarked: https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/blog/202...-bridge-could- re-open-next-summer/ "While the double-decker insert is in place, elements of the bridge that need repair, including the decking, would be lifted away using the temporary bridge as a works platform and transported by barges to an off-site facility for safe repair and restoration." Doesn't say if other river traffic would be allowed to resume at the same time as cars. See also: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-55086118 -- Roland Perry |

How much river traffic would there normally be that far upriver? -- Graeme Wall This account not read. |

A significant number of pleasure craft (some of whom have been stranded away from their regular moorings), as well as the boat race (and practising for it). -- Roland Perry |

Do we know what the threat to river traffic is? Is it the whole bridge collapsing into the river, or bits falling off? |

I was thinking about the various "bin-liner" type movement of rubbish from the west side of London to the recycling depots to the east. Quite a lot of that moves by river these days.
