Default Spaniards Road in Hampstead closures planned

Hi all,

Does anyone know why Spaniards Road in Hampstead is closed in a northbound
direction from 9:30pm to 10:30pm every Saturday from 3rd July to 28th
August, and also on Sundays 11th July and Sunday 29th August?

The dates seem to be the day before Sundays and the day before Bank
Holidays... except that I don't think 12th July is a Bank Holiday.

Does this happen every summer?

That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line -
It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes

Anything to do with the "Music on a Summer Evening" concerts at Kenwood?

Yes. It's to control traffic leaving the Concerts at Kenwood on those
evenings. I think it's happened for the last couple of years.

It certainly happened last year and I think the year before (the
traffic control that is: the concerts have been going for decades)

Do they exempt cycles, and if not, why not?

Actually, it is - Battle of the Boyne. Possibly the council staff are
all from Ulster.

URL:http://www.merlyn.demon.co.uk/holidays.htm gives UK/IE/NA holidays
for any year (to a bit over AD275500, I think) according to present
rules.

I've now driven up Spaniards Road during the affected hour on two Saturdays,
and both times the road was open.
